January 18 @ 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Join us for laughs and fun music at the Finnish American Cultural Activities FACA program at the International Institute of MN, 1694 Como Ave, St Paul (across from the State Fair Grounds) January 18, 2019 7:00 p.m. – All are welcome!

Presenting…  “Ole and the Ice Scrapers!”

Ole and the Ice Scrapers are a comedy band that gives the Al Yankovic treatment to other people’s songs and wraps them into a Nordic humorskit.  The band formed in the 1990’s while working at The St. Paul Companies.  They perform at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church’s Annual Lutefisk Dinner in November, and on special occasions.

“Bios”:   These fellows all hail from Frozenfeetaville, MN.  Emoji

Ole lives with his lovely wife Lena who is three-time arm wrestling champion at the Litchfield Legion. He’s an accomplished triangle player and has mastered the pitch pipe.

Sven and lovely wife Olga had a successful worm ranch for a while, until they lost them all during branding.  Sven likes to point out he has a photographic memory as he always remembers where he left his camera.

Lars was working selling skunk scent to hunters until an accident last year left him blind for a week. He works doing snow shoveling and holds the record for shoveling the whole highway by hand by himself.

Bios:

Larry Teppo (Ole) is an accomplished professional drummer in demand throughout the Twin Cities playing with many different bands.  In the 60’s and 70’s Larry toured on the Grand Ol’ Opry circuit playing drums for the likes of Carl Perkins, Marty Robbins, June Carter, Waylon Jennings, and other Nashville stars.

Ron Parker (Sven) is a singer songwriter with a background in folk music. He has performed at weddings, church services, the Minnesota State Fair, and at The MN Songwriter Showcase in St. Paul.

Dan Johnson (Lars) has performed in numerous music groups of various styles over the years including rock, jazz, and musical theater. He is also a writer.
Coffee and conversation follow the program. $5 freewill donation suggested for non-FACA members. Hope to see you there!
