Finnish Folk Dance Lessons – Free

July 25 @ 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Finnish Dance Steps and Easy Finnish Folk Dances and Mixers!

Keeping the Beat

Join us and learn some basic Finnish dance steps and easy Finnish Folk Dances and Mixers!

Dance lessons are free thanks to a grant from Finlandia Foundation, and open to all ages.  Beginners are welcome, too!  The purpose is to have fun while learning the steps of Finnish dance.  Classes will be held at Tapestry Folk Dance Center in Minneapolis throughout June, July, August and September.

We have a team of instructors working with us that will help walk you through the steps in a fun, productive way. We will start with some basic steps including waltz, Jenkka (Schottische), Humppa, Finnish Polka, and Finnish Mazurka.  We will plan to teach Finnish Tango at a later session.

This is Finland’s 100th year of Independence, and FinnFest will be in Minneapolis in September.   So to gear up for this fun event, we have organized a Day and Evening Dance at the Eagles Club 34, Minneapolis on Saturday, September 16th.  This will be a day of live music, celebration, and of course, dance.  There will be more dancing during the FinnFest 2017: Finland 100 events on September 21st through 24th.
